On Updates

As you may have noticed, we haven't made any significant updates to the charities list -- not for lack of trying! LJ isn't currently letting us edit our sticky post, probably having something to do with the DDOS attacks.

As soon as we can edit, we will.

In the meantime, I want to SCREAM out my encouragement to you all. In the last three days, we have raised thousands of dollars for very good causes. (I don't trust my math skills to tell you how many thousands exactly, but suffice it to say that I believe we passed the $3000 mark today.)

So, other than a HUGE amount of pride and gratitude for all the pimping and the generosity, I have one thing to say:

We did this much in three days. There are eleven days left. We can do SO MUCH. Keep spreading the word, keep digging deep.

Okay, I am gonna try to update the stickypost again. If you're looking for a charity in or near your country, check out the info-gathering post until the stickypost gets squared away.

Just a thought: I've been pimping this, and some fannish friends who are not at all involved with online fanfic or anything have followed the prompts back to Fandom Gives -- and been totally confused, because the whole Strikethrough thing was utterly transparent to them, and the community expects them to already have a basic understanding of May 29th, etc.

They're nice fannish people, who may very well decide to give to these good causes -- IF there were a clearer explanation and description of what we're trying to do with this, and why.

I guess what I'm trying to say is this: if the intro were reworded to be a little easier to understand for someone coming to it completely new, we might find that Fandom Gives can become a more lasting, general-purpose fannish charitable awareness community ....

Hey, I'm flat broke but I've opened up a donations for fic post as an incentive for people to vote. I just thought I'd mention it here as a suggestion, and maybe you could get other fanauthors and fanartists to do the same in an effort to get more donations.

pimped your cause in my personal LJ and at vprincess_fics.

I've pimped everywhere I can think of; the comm is a wonderful idea. :)

OT Question: How does one create a proper sticky post? I'm asking here because yours is the first one I've seen. The best I know to do is future date an entry, but that messes up how my other entries are seen by my flist.

Have LJ actually responded to the challenge at all?

Just as a note, I just did some adding up (up to shadesong or something like that) and you're at $3982.21-ish American. I probably missed a few conversions here and there, but you're almost at 4K. Congrats!

I advertised this community in connection with clapham_circle, a community designed to spread information on modern slavery. Since the sexual exploitation of children and women is so very common in human trafficking, it seemed only appropriate to use this opportunity to draw attention to a very terrible global tragedy.

I don't know if any of our members are going to contribute funds and I'm currently too broke to give money but I'm spreading this as best I can.

So, do we have a final tally?

Hey ^^
I was wondering if we could have a "sum-up" post or something ?
